Union Square Ventures Portfolio Summit in New York City

In May, Union Square Ventures (USV) hosted their annual Portfolio Summit in New York City. Dozens of CEOs and founders of businesses in USV’s active portfolio converged in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to network and share ideas.
If you’re unaware of the venture capital world, USV is a big deal. They were very early investors in companies like Etsy, Tumblr, Twitter, Foursquare, Kickstarter, Duolingo, Soundcloud, and so many others!
Union Square Ventures Keynote Kickoff
The first night featured an introductory keynote and introductions of attendees at Rule of Thirds, a Japanese restaurant in the Greenpoint neighborhood in Brooklyn.

The Coolest Venue in Brooklyn: Skylight at The Refinery
Founded in 1856 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the Domino Sugar Factory was once the largest refinery in the world. After closing in 2004, the building was turned into offices and an event space, opening in 2023.

Sitting on the Williamsburg waterfront, Skylight at The Refinery’s glass dome penthouse event space features incredible views of the Williamsburg Bridge and Manhattan skyline.

Union Square Ventures packed day two full of guest speakers and small group sessions with time to take in the views in between.

Fine Dining at Misi
The event closed out on the second day with dinner and drinks at Misi, an Italian restaurant in South Williamsburg. Misi is lead by Chef Missy Robbins, who was recognized as Best Chef in New York City by the James Beard Foundation in 2018.

Misi co-owners Missy Robbins and Sean Feeney stopped by to greet guests during cocktail hour (below).

A couple years ago, I made the video below featuring some photos I did at an event in a street photography style. The TikTok version of this video went semi-viral and was seen by someone who worked at TikTok. They passed it along to their friends at Moonage and that’s how we started working together
